Bachelor thesis report 14
2010-10-05 22:12:17
A new Tuesday, a new weekly report. Welcome back! Today it is primarily about my yesterday's colloquium lecture, but otherwise there is a short general update.
Triple Colloquium
Yesterday, on 4 October, I have held from 5:30pm in D-220 my colloquium lecture. The appointment has come about because besides me two bachelor wanted to do their presentation (or had limited time) that are advised by Axel Schmolitzky and Horst Oberquelle. These two presentations on Agile Methods vs. Software Quality and consume/produce in BlueJ I found quite interesting and rewarding - a real shame that ultimately were not many visitors on site. Anyway, I was in the afternoon with my presentation of the last. Each of us should set about 30 minutes and 15 minutes to answer questions and be available for discussion, which we have adhered fairly closely.
My presentation went well. The estimate how much content I create in a certain time works out, but now quite good. I had on my printed slides even made some time marks but in the "heat of the moment" then I have yet again completely ignored. They told me afterwards that I had a little longer than half an hour talking, so probably something around 35 minutes. I can live well and no one is asleep.
So now I'm waiting on the grade of the presentation. Axel has let it be know that my performance was quite satisfactory, probably also from expert views. Presumably he and Horst Oberquelle these days to fill and submit the log sheet, it appears that the sub-grade at some point in our highly appreciated campus management system.
By the way: If you missed the lecture, which gets a second chance. I will probably keep him in one of the first weeks of lectures in the SWT seminar (Tuesday 4pm) is still a second time in a larger extent. Once there is a date, I invite to the course again here.
End of a definition
During the lecture I was an incidental question from the audience on an interesting discrepancy is made aware that I would like to share with you: When brainstorming the choreography was important, but not declared essential. Nevertheless, it appears in my updated definition, where it is called as part of the documentation of a teachlet. What explains this contradiction? At first glance, it seems, would have either the term evaluation or the definition is faulty. There are, however, for a useful and, I hope, a reasonable explanation.
The evaluation of the concept results from a purely pragmatic, results-oriented and reductionist view of the importance of the issues. In this sense, we have evaluated the choreography as not essential, since it is perfectly possible to implement a teachlet without having planned a precise choreography. It is certainly not recommended and it brings some difficulties, for example, is the total length can not be estimated and in the worst case, exceed the targeted time slot wide. But, it is possible. You can omit the choreography by planned and there is still a teachlet. That's one perspective.
Even though the definition is built from the central concepts, but it still has a purpose: it is twhat a rookie teachlet intended to bring the concept first. This authorization is to someone who knows nothing about the subject, a proactive, comprehensive yet concise picture of what is a teachlet. In this sense, it has a normative function. It will primarily constitute clear, has to look like a teachlet - and only secondarily, which can enable everything to be just just as called teachlet can. This is the other perspective.

Imagine a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Yummy! To include such a pie, at least in my eyes, along with layering, cream, cherries and chocolate dough observe the grated chocolate on top, making the top biting really fun. What do I do if I want to make a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte and have no chocolate chips? The supermarkets have closed and there is no way to organize what? Sure, I make my cake just exceptionally without chocolate chips. Maybe I'll take the cheap chocolate sprinkles instead. No one will seriously argue that what occurs there is no Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte - the delicious dough, whipped cream, cherries ... clearly this is a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. Maybe not the tastiest of them all, but still. But if someone asks me how to make Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte? Then chocolate chips are of course one of the main ingredients! They include such typical to look, feel and taste of Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte that they are necessarily as a central component in the recipe. (Experiments with chocolate sprinkles are not recommended for imitation.)
Hopefully this way has become clear how I justify this difference between the concept of assessment and the formulation of the definition. Thank you to Lorna for this wonderful question!
Feedback status
Last week I sent my feedback mail petition. The timing has changed in the course of something because I realized when writing that a week is actually somehow did not have much time for it. I have the people so given two weeks (until 15 October) period.
Unfortunately, after the moves that I had with the feedback from Axel can not wait until afterwards, as he lectures start on 18 October will again conduct courses and would make no commitments for assistance in the first six weeks, which I can understand that. Therefore, Axel now but to feedback already based on the first iteration make work. Since I do not know if people from other reports of anyone (so far there is no feedback), that's probably not a problem. Because of the uncertain wait for me, this changes the scheduled release date in the first half of November (hopefully) no more.
Outlook
Now I have to do so immediately at the moment for my final paper just nothing. It may be that not much happened until next week - a weekly report will be there for sure but still, if need be announced as I chat again out of school and reflect a little of the end of the development work. Until then!
