Bachelor thesis report 13

2010-09-28 21:32:03

keywords: bachelor thesis, Teachlets

Welcome to the last report for iteration 1 of my dissertation. To not take long to beat around the bush: Since yesterday evening, I consider it the first time as it! This means that all chapters are written, there are no more gaps in the manuscript. That is not, however, that there is nothing to improve more.

Right now I feel relieved that the work is now at this level gives me some relief. I'm even a few days before my schedule, a completion of the work has really only planned for tomorrow.

Right now I'm mostly worried about the proverbial blind spots. I have read the text of my bachelor thesis in recent weeks and months, so often that it now I can not even read - I always skip whole paragraphs, because I can still memorize. This makes it very hard on it look on critical. I would really like, because I wrote the chapter so in a completely different order than they are now in work. This is obviously a breeding ground for sequence errors, and implicit forward references. Unfortunately, I have at least a few days (if not weeks) to wait until I can return the text "really" read.

What happens now?

A look at the schedule in the last report reveals that the feedback score next week 1 to 8 October, and the colloquium lecture on 4 October are. In the talk I will practically prepare now and develop a few slides. Next Monday it is taking place. If you want to be there, so now is your last chance to tell me.

The feedback week starts next Friday. On the day I will then current version of the work (be that by then I correct little things) send to some extent a lot of people. And I have chosen the approach to send a message to all who have at some time expressed an interest in some form, and those exempt if you look at the part and I would like to give feedback. Maybe I get some feedback, perhaps not. If I get that, I work from 8 to October in. Then it's going then by feedback from Axel, for the rest of the planning see the last report.

Of course you can still express interest in the work and be provided with a preliminary version if you want. Register for just me.

Serial these reports

With the completion of the core working period of the time these weekly reports is not yet over. My goal is to continue until the final submission of the paper further. In future reports I will be apart from the current state of the feedback cycles carry around continued reflection of the process. Maybe this fall to be out a few tips and hints for future authors of theses, we'll see. I know it myself not so accurate.

This time, there is nothing more to think (sorry, I need a rest), so here is a bit useless knowledge:

My work is currently included cover sheet, table of contents and notes a total of 47 A4 pages long. The PDF file is exactly 666 886 bytes in size. (If me something to think about?) Of the 47 or 18 fall on my core text. Another 24 includes the interview protocols. A page from an e-mail report taken in the appendix, another of the single, solitary figure in the work. In addition, only come cover page, contents and bibliography.

Once converted to plain text and automatic counting, the work currently consists of 17 730 words including appendix and 6126 without. Not too much really. The main LaTeX document is 1178 lines long, but it is the interviews not included. Of these 1178 lines are 36 comments. From the comments is 7 (less than 20%) "real" comments, the rest are commented out lines of code. Good thing my LaTeX usually does not have any significant code complexity.

Here is a list of frequently used words and their number in my core text, less articles, prepositions, particles and other boring stuff: teachlets (84), participants (60), teachlet (49), moderator (39), software (31), participants (29), definition (26)

Outlook

Next Tuesday I will tell you from the colloquium lecture and feedback on the course of weeks to go. I'm curious to see how the both work out right. Until then!

Update: I have just sent the mail for the feedback. When writing, I only noticed that a week but is damn short anyway. Therefore, I have the feedback week spontaneously extended to two weeks. Let's see if I get answers.
